A new first for the US shale gas industry: some of its product is being sold with ‘responsible’ branding

The FT reports that Utility New Jersey Resources is to buy gas produced ‘responsibly’ from Southwestern Energy wells in W Virginia, at an undisclosed premium.

“Using 100 per cent “responsible gas” would add about 90 US cents per month to the average bill, according to Independent Energy Standards, the company that runs the certification programme.”
