California passes broadest digital privacy law of any US state, somewhat like GDPR, to enter force 2020

But even its supporters say it will need revising before then, having been completed hurriedly in the face of the changing politics of privacy.

Californians will be able to ask what personal information businesses hold about them, what kind of data they sell to other companies, request personal information be deleted, and opt out of having their data being sold. It’s a start.
