New UK solar and wind could be cheaper than existing gas plants within the 2020s: Climate Change Committee

This is a guest post by Jeremy Leggett. Views are the author's own and do not necessarily represent the opinions or positions of MyGridGB or Dr Andrew Crossland.

Meanwhile, the Climate Change Committee’s Progress Report for 2018 concludes, government’s current plans for 100gCO2/kWh goal by 2030 are “not credible”. Power sector emissions stand at 263gCO2/kWh.

Not much to add here. Other than the necessary acceleration would be easily done, in the context of megatrends in solar and wind covered on this website chronology and elsewhere.
